The Taigun carries the familiar Volkswagen design diktat of straight lines and for added measure, gets dollops of chrome. The sporty GT Line gets projector headlamps with LED DRL's. It even gets different 17-inch alloy wheels for the manual and automatic variants, the automatic getting dual-tone ones. The Tiguan features a distinctive rear thanks to a large black line running across the headlamp, and having integrated LEDs within. This SUV gets usable roof rails - they can take up loads upto 75kgs!

On the inside, the Taigun features a youthful-looking cabin thanks to a central rib running across the dashboard that's colour matched to the exterior colour. It gets a 10-inch instrument console and a semi-digital instrument cluster. The 1.5-litre petrol DSG automatic variant though gets a nifty looking full-digital instrument console. Features include Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Navigation and a dedicated app store. It even gets wireless charging and a sunroof.

Like the Skoda Kushaq, the Volkswagen Taigun will come with petrol-only engine options. It gets 1.0 TSI and 1.5 TSI engines with automatic and manual gearbox options. The 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine delivers 115PS and 175Nm. It can be had with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. The larger 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol mill delivers 150PS and 250Nm and can be had with a choice of either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DSG gearbox.

The upcoming Taigun will compete with other SUVs like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and its recently launched cousin - the Skoda Kushaq.
