As the name suggests the SUV gets longer and adds opulence to the cabin
The Bentley Bentayga SUV is already quite the spacious SUV and offers oodles of opulence that is typical of a Bentley. Well, the SUV got stretched and a more premium Azure trim abroad in 2022, and now it is here in India as the most luxurious Bentayga trim at a price tag of Rs 6 crore ex-showroom. Yes, it is a hefty jump of around Rs 2 crore over the standard Bentayga, but the enhancements seem to be well worth the dough.
As the name suggests, the Bentayga EWB Azure gets stretched out, with its wheelbase increasing by 180mm to 3175mm. Of course that has led to the Bentayga measuring 5322mm in length. Aside from that, the EWB Azure also distinguishes itself over the standard SUV with a vertically slatted front grille, 22-inch 10-spoke alloy wheels, and a repositioned panoramic sunroof to accommodate the stretched bodywork.
The cabin is where the Bentley Bentayga EWB’s Azure name plate grabs the spotlight. The opulence starts with a Front Seat Comfort specification that adds heating, ventilation, massage functions to the seats as well as 20-way electric adjustment. Another cool party trick is the Airline seats at the rear that offers 22 levels of adjustability including a 40 degree recline as well as a postural adjustment function. Also, Bentley is offering four, five and a new 4+1 seating layout that gets a jump seat between two larger rear seats. Topping off the opulence factor is the Seat Auto Climate function that detects your temperature and the humidity at the back, and automatically adapts to the optimum setup.
Under the hood is the same 4-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine that makes 550PS and 770Nm, paried to an eight-speed automatic gearbox. All this is enough for the SUV to hit 0-100kmph in 4.6 seconds with a top speed of 290kmph. Rear-wheel steering has been added to aid its cornering prowess and the Bentley Dynamic Ride system keeps things stable inside.
The introduction of the Bentley Bentayga Extended Wheelbase Azure makes this the most flagship Bentley in India. As for rivals, the Rolls-Royce Cullinan and the Mercedes-Maybach GLS are its closest competitors.
