• Facelifted Hyundai Grand i10 Nios launched at Rs 5.69 lakh

The Nios gets a bit of everything in the upgrades department

Hyundai India had kicked off 2023 by opening bookings for the updated Grand i10 Nios hatchback, and now the carmaker has launched it at introductory prices starting at Rs 5.69 lakh, ex-showroom. While it may not seem like the hatchback has changed to

In terms of design, it now gets a redesigned front bumper. LED DRLs that were previously integrated into the front grille are now moved to the sides of the bumper. The car now sits on more snazzier-looking new 15-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. On the sides, the door handles receive a chrome treatment that gives them a more upmarket look. Apart from that the Grand i10 Nios also features a new LED tail lamp setup at the rear.

Step inside and Hyundai has kept the cabin relatively unchanged aside from different upholstery colours. That being said, with the facelift now you get cruise control for the first time. The semi-digital instrument cluster is now replaced by a 3.5-inch MID display. Other than that you get a new seat fabric design and footwell lighting too. The interior is feature-loaded with an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple Carplay, a wireless phone charger, voice recognition and a fast USB charging port.

On the safety front, for the first time both the cars will get four airbags as standard, while the top-spec variant will get additional curtain airbags. Apart from that the safety features include ESC, HAC, automatic headlamps and Vehicle stability management.

Under the hood is the same 1.2-litre naturally aspirated five-speed manual / AMT petrol engine that delivers 83PS and 113.8Nm or a 1.2-litre four-cylinder naturally aspirated CNG-petrol variant that delivers 83PS and 113.8Nm. Unfortunately, the 100PS/172Nm 1-litre turbo-petrol engine has been given the axe as the carmaker deems the engine a better fit for bigger cars like the i20 N Line.

The updated Hyundai  Grand i10 Nios continues its rivalry against the likes of Maruti Suzuki WagonR, Celerio, Swift and Tata Tiago. Also expect the updated compact sedan Aura to launch soon and compete with the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Honda Amaze and Tata Tigor.
