• Lamborghini Urus Performante SUV launched at Rs 4.22 crore

It takes the already manic performance of the standard Urus up a notch

The Lamborghini Urus is no doubt a very potent super SUV that can give supercars a run for their money. But there’s no harm in improving upon things, and the Lamborghini Urus Performante revealed in August does exactly that and then some. What’s more, it's finally arrived in India at a price tag of Rs 4.22 crore, ex-showroom.

So what’s different in the Urus Performante? In simple terms, it's bolder and offers a more manic performance. Getting to the former, the Performante sheds the standard Urus’ family-friendly nature and gets an aggressive front bumper, a ventilated carbon fibre hood, new 23-inch wheels, and a larger rear spoiler. The carbon fibre treatment also extends to the front splitter, wheel arches and rear diffuser. Inside, you get Nero Cosmus black Alcantara upholstery with hexagonal seat stitching and a dedicated graphic for the Urus Performante on the centre console screen and the infotainment system.

Now, to the hardcore nature of the super-SUV. Its 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 now pushes 16PS more grunt at 666PS with the same 850Nm torque figures. Paired to an eight-speed ZF automatic gearbox, it can hit 0-100kmph in 3.3 seconds with a top speed of 306kmph.

The gains go beyond the engine, with the Urus Performante being 47kg lighter, its steering wheel being reworked, and steel springs lowering the SUV by 20mm. It's also longer by 25mm and wider by 16mm. A new dedicated Rally mode allows for demented driving on rough terrains with the anti-roll and damping systems optimised for such roads. All these upgrades are to give the Urus even more hardcore driving dynamics. In fact, it's the fastest production SUV around the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb with the climb achieved in 10 minutes and 32 seconds.

The Lamborghini Urus Performante is one of the two special Urus trims from the Sant'Agata Bolognese carmaker to give pure ICEs an honourable swansong. Even though this is the most extreme Urus you can buy in India, it has tough competition in the form of the Aston Martin DBX707.
