• KTM 890 Adventure R gets an upgrade globally

It largely benefits from the redesigned bodywork and suspension bits borrowed from the KTM 450 Rally enhancing its off-road abilities

 

The KTM 890 Adventure R has been given an upgrade at markets abroad and takes cues from the KTM 450 Rally in terms of the WP suspension package and its influence goes into the bodywork as well. The engineers at KTM have made this already agile canyon carver more dependable and sustainable. 

The cockpit gets a new 5-inch TFT display equipped with USB-C connectors and features a flowy readout for easy navigation through the menus. It also features a turn-by-turn plus a navigation system and a new call-out function that allows one to feed a maximum of 10 numbers, or the option to call one of the previous 10 numbers called.

It gets the rally set up straight from the 450 Rally, a fully adjustable WP XPLOR 48mm forks and a WP XPLOR PDS rear mono-shock with a travel of 240mm at both ends and are re-tuned for better comfort to reduce rider fatigue. The bodywork includes new fairing, a 20-litre fuel tank, and cowling and boasts improved aerodynamics than the predecessor. The new and lower windshield, high front fender and engine protector are its attributes helping in the much technical terrains.  

The 2023 edition provides comfort through the single-piece seat with new colours. Tyres offered are new in the market, Mitas ENDURO TRAIL+ combo for the International and European versions. American variants get LED-style indicators.

Upping the ante with the electronics suite, KTM now has an advanced ABS unit that takes inputs from the 6D sensor that constantly feeds the CMU on the angle, pitch, speed and general behaviour of the motorcycle to modulate the right amount of braking pressure on the go. The bike’s potential off-the-beaten tracks can be exploited with Off Road ABS as an integrated element of Off-Road Mode, or the optional Rally Mode, without the need to select the Off-Road ABS separately. It also benefits from a lean-angle sensitive traction control

Another interesting feature of the 2023 KTM 890 Adventure R is that it can be installed with a Demo Model. With this, riders can utilise all the specs and options for the first 1,500 kilometres, before the owners acquire what’s necessary according to their taste.

The powerhouse is an 889cc parallel twin motor that churns out 105PS and 100Nm figures while mated to a six-speed gearbox. It houses a cable-assisted slipper clutch. Brakes are a twin rotor of 320mm at the front with a four-pot radially mounted calliper and a 260mm single rotor with a twin pot calliper at the rear
