Volvo's entire model portfolio for India is now electrified
Volvo has launched its 2023 model range which completes their transition into only offering mild-hybrid powertrains for their entire product portfolio in India. This is keeping in line with Volvo’s goal of sustainability and becoming an all-electric carmaker by the year 2030. The biggest changes for the 2023 model year are reserved for their entry-level model, the XC40.
XC40: Rs. 45.90 lakh
XC60: Rs. 65.90 lakh
XC90: Rs. 94.90 lakh
S90: Rs. 66.90 lakh
For the 2023 model year, the XC40 gets a new mild-hybrid powertrain, comprising a 2.0-litre petrol engine and a 48V electrical system. It develops 197PS and 300Nm. The XC40 has also received some styling changes that brings its looks more in line with its fully electric sibling, the XC40 Recharge. It now has sleeker headlights, a restyled front bumper, and a new design for the 18-inch alloy wheels.
It also gets an update to the infotainment system, which is now powered by Android. Additionally, the XC40 now has a blind spot monitoring system with cross traffic alert. All these changes make the new XC40 dearer by Rs. 1.40 lakh than the outgoing model. However, Volvo India is offering the refreshed XC40 at a festival season special price of Rs. 43.20 lakh, which actually makes it cheaper than the outgoing model by Rs. 1.20 lakh
The upgrades on the MY2023 XC90 are largely down to the new Android powered infotainment system, which includes built-in support for Google services like Maps, and hands free usage through the Google assistant. It is now more expensive by Rs. 1 lakh than the previous version. Going forward, Volvo has also decided to discontinue the plug-in hybrid version of the XC90. The plug-in hybrid version developed 407PS while the mild-hybrid version makes 300PS which is the only option available for prospective customers of the XC90.
S90 and XC60
The S90 and the XC60 had already received the mild-hybrid powertrain update last year. The new S90 is more expensive than before by Rs. 1 lakh, at Rs. 66.90 lakh. The XC60 is Volvo’s best-selling model in India, so for MY2023, Volvo has decided to not change their winning formula, with the price remaining the same as before, at Rs. 65.90 lakh.
Additionally, Volvo India customers can now opt for a 3 year Volvo service package, which costs Rs. 75,000 before taxes and covers regular maintenance cost as well as wear and tear cost for 3 year duration.
All Volvo cars in India are offered in a single, fully-loaded trim level and are available across 25 dealerships around India.
