Kia’s debut model for India has had quite the success story since its launch back in 2019
Kia kicked off its India innings with the Seltos SUV back in August 2019, and it was an explosive debut with over 30,000 bookings within just five weeks from opening. The Korean carmaker marks its third anniversary with the Seltos setting another milestone with three lakh sales in the country.
Kia has been giving the Seltos some updates recently, with the latest one making six airbags as a standard feature across the range. Before that, the carmaker made four airbags, a tyre pressure monitoring system, electronic stability control, and rear-wheel disc brakes, and vehicle stability management as a standard offering.
The Seltos also gets plenty of bells and whistles which includes a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 360 degree camera, a sunroof, head-up display, wireless phone charger and automatic climate control.
Powering the SUV are an abundant list of engines which include a 115PS 1.5-litre petrol, a 140PS 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol unit and a 115PS 1.5-litre diesel motor. A 6-speed manual gearbox is standard on all three engines, with the automatic options including a 6-speed iMT and CVT for the 1.5-litre petrol, a 7-speed DCT for the 1.4-litre turbo-petrol mill and a 6-speed automatic for the 1.5-litre diesel motor.
The Seltos currently retails from Rs 10.49 lakh and Rs 18.65 lakh (ex-showroom), but we’re expecting a facelift some time soon as the updated SUV was spotted testing in India. The compact SUV takes on the Hyundai Creta, Tata Harrier, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq and MG Astor.
