Maruti Suzuki has introduced a swivel seat option for the WagonR, aimed at improving accessibility for elderly users and persons with limited mobility. The feature has been rolled across select cities in India and is available through select Maruti Suzuki Arena dealerships.
The swivel seat is installed on the front passenger side and is designed to rotate outward when the door is opened. This allows occupants to sit down or get out of the car with less physical effort, reducing strain on the knees and lower back. Once seated, the seat can be rotated back into the standard driving position. The system is manually operated and does not rely on electric motors.

According to the company, the swivel seat can be retrofitted without structural changes to the car. The original seat does not need to be replaced, and the installation process takes about an hour. The accessory has been tested and certified by the Automotive Research Association of India for safety compliance and comes with a standard warranty.
The development of the swivel seat involved collaboration with a technology startup supported through Maruti Suzuki’s incubation programe. The carmaker stated that customer feedback from the pilot phase will determine whether the feature is extended to more cities or offered on additional models in the future.
