Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, the first electric SUV from the car maker, has scored 5 Stars in the Bharat NCAP tests. The electric SUV comes with safety features such as seven airbags, Level-2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), ISOFIX child seat anchor points and hill-hold. The e Vitara is the second car from Maruti Suzuki and the first electric car to receive Level-2 ADAS, after the Maruti Suzuki Victoris.
The significance of these numbers is inescapable, as electric cars with their skateboard platforms and blade batteries behave in very different ways than ICE-powered vehicles. It is commendable for Maruti Suzuki to score 5 Stars on its first attempt at crash testing an EV.

The e Vitara scored 31.49 out of 32 points for adult occupant protection, which is a remarkable score. It also managed 43 out of 49 points for child occupant protection, another impressive number. The ratings are applicable across different variants of the e Vitara, such as the Delta, Zeta or Alpha. This is the fourth Maruti Suzuki car to get tested at Bharat NCAP and the third to score 5 Stars. Suzuki is taking giant strides in the one place where it isn’t the market leader, which is safety, and we appreciate this very much because it means greater safety for India’s masses.
