Mahindra has launched the Thar OG, it brings a new ‘OG’ suffix, updated design and enhanced mechanicals. The Thar OG succeeds the three-door Thar that was introduced in 2020, and deliveries begin on October 11, 2026.
The Thar OG retains the boxy silhouette and upright stance of its predecessor but gets a revised front end with a new grille, circular LED headlamps, and signature C-shaped LED DRLs. Other exterior changes include new LED ice-cube fog lamps with a cornering function, redesigned front and rear bumpers with a wider track, new LED tail lamps, and fresh 19-inch alloy wheels (18-inch on the base AXT trim). Mahindra has also added two new paint options — Artemis Silver and Jeans Blue — alongside six existing colours.
Inside, the top-spec ZXT gets Brown leatherette upholstery, a leatherette-wrapped steering wheel, and a soft touch second-row armrest with a cupholder. Feature additions across the range include a 10.24-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and CarPlay, cruise control, electrically adjustable ORVMs, a rear wiper-washer, and Mahindra’s Adventure Statistics Gen II. 4WD variants also get a washable floor with drain plugs. It also retains the analogue dials.
On safety, the Thar OG comes with up to 6 airbags — including four HPTS (Head Pelvis Thorax Shoulder) units for front and rear occupants. The ZXT trim adds all-four disc brakes, an ESP 9.3 suite, front parking sensors, a rear-view camera, and a tyre pressure monitoring system.
The Thar OG moves to Mahindra’s M_Glyde 4G platform, which brings higher structural stiffness. It also introduces a rear Pentalink suspension with a Watts Link, Mahindra’s Davinci Damping with Frequency Dependent Damping, and Electric Power Steering
Three engine options continue, all with a power and torque bump over the outgoing Thar, except the CRDe unit. The G20 turbo petrol engine now produces 162PS and 330Nm, the D22 mHawk diesel engine now produces 152PS and 330Nm, and the D117 CRDe diesel engine continues to produce 119PS and 300Nm. 4WD variants get an Electronic Locking Differential and dedicated Terrain Modes for mud, sand and snow.
Introductory ex-showroom prices range from ₹10.32 lakh for the base AXT (CRDe diesel, RWD, manual only) up to ₹18.99 lakh for the top ZXT trim. LXT variants span ₹12.99 lakh to ₹18 lakh depending on engine and drivetrain, while ZXT variants span ₹13.99 lakh to ₹18.99 lakh. Mahindra says this introductory pricing holds for deliveries up to 30 November, 2026.
