With Formula racing getting popular thanks to series like Drive To Survive, motorsport in general is garnering more attention in the Indian market. Mahindra has been involved in motorsport for a very long time – it used to run a team in the Moto3 championship, and it currently runs a team in the Formula E championship.
Which brings us to the BE6 Formula E Edition – this is an EV, just like the Formula Car that Mahindra runs in the race series, and Mahindra has launched a special edition starting at ₹23.70 lakh. It gets a number of cosmetic changes to show its ties to the race series. Some of these changes include four new exterior colour options (white, orange, red and black), a new-look bumper, wheels, a custom startup animation, a flap for the start/stop button, and engine sounds reminiscent of Formula E cars.
The interior is orange-themed, so there is a lot of that colour inside the BE6 Formula E Edition. Other unique touches include a ‘liquid metal’ finish for the skid plates, new graphics, FIA branding on the windscreen, left lower cladding and seat belts, and ‘Formula E’ badging at the rear.
The first 999 customers of the BE6 Formula E Edition will get assured benefits, and three owners will get tickets to the London E-Prix next year. Bookings for the BE6 Formula E Edition open on 14 January, and deliveries are scheduled to begin exactly a month later, on Valentine’s Day.
