Hyundai’s ‘Samarth’ Initiative paves the way to inclusive mobility and progress for all

Hyundai Motor India Ltd. has launched the ‘Samarth’ initiative, a holistic project aimed at creating awareness and support for people with disabilities in India. Hyundai becomes the first automobile manufacturer in India to pioneer an inclusive mobility program on a mass scale, aligning with its global vision of ‘Progress for Humanity’ set forth by Hyundai Motor Corporation.

The ‘Samarth’ initiative is more than a campaign – it’s Hyundai’s commitment to building an inclusive and progressive society. With over 26.8 million differently-abled individuals in India, the need for awareness and support is evident. Hyundai has partnered with GoSports Foundation and Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled to provide comprehensive support to people with disabilities.

Firstly, Hyundai is taking strides towards Inclusive Online Access by making its website differently-abled friendly. This ensures that the online platform becomes universally accessible, providing equal online access to everyone.
The initiative also addresses physical accessibility by committing to revamp all Hyundai dealerships and service centres. These spaces will be transformed to be differently-abled friendly, emphasising ease of access for everyone.
In terms of vehicles, Hyundai is set to introduce Swivel Seats and accessories as part of its commitment to enhance the differently-abled friendliness of cars.

Hyundai Motor India Foundation, in collaboration with GoSports Foundation, is launching a program as part of the initiative which focuses on forging Partnerships for Para-Athletes, supporting individuals in both team and individual sports. The aim is to foster inclusivity, innovation, and positive impact in the para-sports ecosystem.

Additionally, the ‘Samarth’ Initiative extends its support to visually impaired individuals through a partnership with Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled. This collaboration involves providing assistive devices and creating a program that utilises blind cricket for the physical and social development of the visually impaired in India.

Mr Un Soo Kim, MD & CEO, Hyundai India, said, “Samarth is a step towards creating a more aware and inclusive society towards the differently-abled in India. We aim to cultivate a more equitable and sensitised society for the differently abled and want them to see their true capabilities.”

Bollywood icon Mr Shah Rukh Khan was present at the launch. He said, “Hyundai is starting an exclusive program to provide holistic support to para-athletes in India towards the quest for Paralympics.”

Hyundai Motor India’s ‘Samarth’ initiative is not just a leap forward in mobility but a testament to the company’s commitment to social responsibility, diversity, and equality, contributing to the creation of a more inclusive society.
