Hyundai Motor India has launched its first commercial-only passenger cars – Prime HB (hatchback) and Prime SD (sedan), which are based on the Hyundai Aura and the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios. The prices of the range start at ₹6 lakh for the Prime hatchback and ₹6.90 lakh for the Prime sedan. Both offerings are built to meet the needs of fleet operators and individual taxi entrepreneurs and cannot be registered as private vehicles. The Prime range is offered as an option rivalling Maruti Suzuki’s Tour models, the WagonR and the Dzire.

The Prime HB and Prime SD are being offered with the 1.2-litre four-cylinder Kappa engine with the petrol+CNG option and are claimed to offer a fuel efficiency of 28.40km/kg and 27.32km/kg for the Prime HB and Prime SD, respectively. Just like Hyundai’s passenger cars, the Prime range is also fitted with features like six airbags, rear AC vents, electrically adjustable OVRMs, steering-mounted controls, front row fast USB Type-C ports, and factory-fitted speed limiter (up to 80kmph). Optional accessories include a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, rear camera and vehicle location tracking device with panic buttons. The Prime Taxi range will be available in three colour options – white, silver and black.

The booking amount for the Prime range is ₹5,000. Both models are offered with extended warranty packages (beyond the standard three year/1 lakh km) for the fourth and fifth year or up to 1.8 lakh km, whichever comes earlier. Hyundai is also offering finance schemes and repayment tenures of up to 72 months.
