Hyundai has a thing for concepts that seem straight out of the Cyberpunk 2077 universe. Be it the N Vision 74 or the Concept 45, both vehicles look like they have rolled out of a futuristic, neon-lit cyberpunk world. The latest to join this list of crazy-looking concepts from the Korean car maker is the Insteroid concept, based on its sub-compact electric SUV, the Inster.

The name Insteroid is a combination of two words, Inster and Steroid, a concept inspired by gaming. The concept looks aggressive and straight out of an underground tuner garage from a dystopian world where the right mods are essential for survival. Design elements include flared arches, a sharp front splitter, a huge rear wing, sideskirts with preposterously large air inlets and rear diffusers that give the car a brawny look. The more you look at it, the more insane-looking details you notice, for example, the front alloy wheels look like a droid from Star Wars and the rear seems to have been carried over from a drag racing car and all of this is enough to make you go bonkers.

However, it is not just the outside that is wild, step inside and you’ll notice the roll cage and the bucket seat with orange seatbelts. The instrument cluster has also been gamified, buttons and the display look straight out of a video game console to take the bonkers quotient to the next level.

But that’s not all, the fabric used inside, covering the seats, door and dashboard, is made from eco-friendly materials and recycled yarns and has been made using 3D-knit technology. Complementing the gaming theme is a crazy-looking sound system that again boasts bright orange panels surrounding the speakers. To make things more interesting, the Insteroid also gets a drift mode, which hints at it being a rear-wheel drive vehicle. There is no information on the powertrain, but the standard 115PS and 49kWh battery certainly won’t do justice to this outrageous cyberpunk machine in our opinion.
