Thought the Hyundai Verna getting a five-star Global NCAP safety rating was big news? Well, the carmaker has followed up with that by announcing that its entire model lineup will be equipped with six airbags as standard.
This decision benefits the likes of the Grand i10 Nios, Aura, Venue and Venue N Line as they didn’t have six airbags as a standard feature. For models like the recently facelifted i20, Verna, Creta, Alcazar, Ioniq 5 and Tucson, this decision is unaffected as they already came with six airbags as standard.
This isn’t the only safety feature that is standard on Hyundai’s 13-model portfolio as equipment like ABS with EBD, three-point seat belts and seat belt reminder for all passengers is also offered as a standard fitment. The story doesn’t end there, as Hyundai has announced that it has voluntarily submitted three of its current models for the Bharat NCAP safety tests that came into force since October 01.
While this news is yet another positive for Hyundai India, there is the argument that while having six airbags is a notable feature, it is actually the structural integrity of the vehicle that matters the most in terms of safety. Nevertheless, we hope the carmaker continues this positive momentum into the future.
