HP Omen 16

A good Omen

Gaming laptops have come a long way, from being bulky, thick devices to being a portable go-anywhere productivity powerhouse. The new HP Omen 16 is the latter. Powered by the 14th Gen Intel Core i7 14700HX processor and up to Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 laptop GPU, the Omen 16 gaming laptop is something designed to serve not just gamers but also graphic artists and creators.
The result is stunning graphics that bring even the most demanding games to life. This combination of advanced processing power and next-gen graphics ensures smooth gameplay and top-tier performance in high-pressure situations, whether it’s running the latest AAA titles or managing multiple applications simultaneously.

The Omen 16 is also equipped with up to 32 GB DDR5-5600 MHz RAM, offering blazing-fast load times and seamless multitasking. My switch between graphic intensive applications and games like Forza 5 was without any fuss. In fact, I did most of my photo and video editing on the Omen 16 and it was butter smooth. A part of this is also owed to the 165Hz FHD display with a 3ms response time that provided lifelike visuals and an immersive viewing experience. Whether it was fast-paced action or cinematic scenes, the high refresh rate and quick response time ensured smooth transitions and minimal motion blur, providing a seamless experience in my daily usage. During mixed usage, my review unit delivered a battery backup of around 5 hours, which is pretty decent for a gaming laptop of this calibre.

To handle the heat generated by its hardware, the Omen 16 features the advanced Omen Tempest Cooling technology. This new airflow system includes a square venting design that improves air circulation, enabling better intake and exhaust. The redesigned top hinge trunk avoids blocking the rear venting, further enhancing thermal performance.

The Omen 16 makes for a very good value proposition and undercuts its competitors. The HP Omen 16 is a portable yet capable powerhouse and a very good option for gamers and creators who demand top-tier performance.
