The 2023 Honda CB300R gets an OBD2 update and is now compliant with BS6.2 emission norms. However, the big news is that the 2023 iteration is priced at Rs 2.40 lakh, ex-showroom, which makes it Rs 37,000 less than the outgoing model, which was priced at Rs 2.77 lakh, ex-showroom.
The on-road price in most cities is now comparable to the ex-showroom price of the previous version. What’s more, the BS4 CB300R had a price tag of Rs 2.41 lakh, so the 2023 one is cheaper than even that by Rs 1,000.
Mechanically it remains the same as the last-gen model, with a 286.01cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine pumping out 31.1PS and 27.5Nm, nestled within a diamond-type chassis and suspended on a pair of USD forks and a rear monoshock. It is still a featherweight at 146kg (kerb). The LED headlamp, slip-and-assist clutch and dual-channel ABS makes it as modern as any of its rivals.
The BS4 model had silver tank shrouds, which had been changed to black ones when the bike relaunched in the BS6 avatar. The colour options are red and grey, but no yellow or blue as offered internationally.
The main rivals of the Honda CB300R are the likes of BMW G310R, TVS Apache RTR 310, and the KTM Duke 250.
