The prices for Hero MotoCorp’s new flagship, the Mavrick 440 have been revealed and it is currently the most affordable 400cc motorcycle on sale in India! It will be offered in three variants – Base, Mid and Top, priced at Rs 1.99 lakh, Rs 2.14 lakh and 2.24 lakh, respectively.
Unlike the Harley-Davidson X440 it is based on, the Mavrick 440 has a hint of sportiness to its design. You get LED headlamp upfront with conventional telescopic forks and a 17-inch alloy (spoke wheel in the base variant). At the sides you have a muscular fuel tank with grooves to rest your thighs followed by a single-piece seat. The rear boasts a simple look with a sleek LED tail lamp and an extended rear fender housing the round LED turn indicators. Features include all-LED lighting, a LCD instrument cluster with connected tech and turn-by-turn navigation, slip-and-assist clutch and dual-channel ABS as standard.
The Mavrick 440 gets the same engine and gearbox combo as the Harley-Davidson X440. It puts out 27.3PS and 36Nm and being a long-stroke motor, Hero claims that 90 percent of the torque is available from just 2,000rpm.
It is underpinned by a trellis frame suspended on 43mm telescopic forks upfront and 7-step preload adjustable twin-shocks at the rear. It boasts a ground clearance of 175mm and a seat-height of 803mm, which should make it accessible to shorter riders as well. It gets a wheelbase of 1,388mm (30mm shorter than the Harley-Davidson) which should make it an agile handler. Braking hardware includes 320mm disc upfront and 240mm disc at the rear.
Apart from the Harley-Davidson X440, the Hero Mavrick 440 will compete against the likes of Bajaj Dominar 400, Royal Enfield Hunter 350 and Classic 350.
