Chennai to host India’s first-ever night street race this December

The circuit will play host to a round of the Indian Racing League and the upcoming F4 Indian Championship

In a landmark moment for Indian motorsports, a new street circuit, named the Chennai Formula Racing Circuit has been announced and it will host India’s first-ever night street race. This project has been spearheaded by the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu (SDAT), in partnership with Racing Promotions Private Limited (RPPL), the promoter of the Indian Racing League and the upcoming F4 Indian Championship.

The circuit itself will have a 3.5km layout with a total of 19 corners, which is the longest street circuit layout in India. It’ll cover areas such as the Island Grounds, Napier Bridge as well as the Marina Beach Road within this layout. 

As far as racing action at the circuit is concerned, it is confirmed to host a round of the F4 Indian Championship and the Indian Racing League. This is scheduled to take place between December 9 and 10, 2023.
