BMW Motorrad has launched the new M 1000 R, which is the full-blown M iteration of the S 1000 R. Comes with a new fascia and engine derived from the brand’s more aggressive S 1000 RR, along with more equipment and improved track performance.

The BMW M 1000 R features an updated dual LED headlamp with an M logo inside the air intake between the lights. M Winglets are also offered, which increase the front wheel load by 11kg at 220 kmph. Along with that, it also gets the M Quick Action Throttle, which reduces the angle of rotation required to achieve full throttle, allowing for faster acceleration with less wrist strain. Equipped with a 6.5-inch TFT instrument cluster with multiple electronic aids like traction control, wheelie control, launch control, pit limiter, M GPS Datalogger, ABS, ABS Pro, and seven riding modes. It also gets a lightweight M battery, a rear USB charging socket, adaptive turn signals, electronic cruise control, and heated grips.

Powering the M 1000 R is the 999cc inline 4-cylinder producing 209PS and 113Nm, which can propel the bike from 0-100kmph in just 3.2 seconds with a maximum speed of 280kmph. The engine comes with variable valve timing, which BMW calls ‘ShiftCam Technology’ to achieve linear power delivery throughout the rev range.

BMW also offers the M Competition Package, which includes M Carbon Wheels, M GPS Laptrigger, M Carbon parts such as rear wheel cover and chain guard, front wheel cover, tank covers, airbox cover with tapes, wind deflector, and sprocket cover. The M pillion package, along with M pillion cover and a milled, fully adjustable M rider footrest system, is also offered. Available in three colour options: Light White non-metallic / M Motorsport (available in base model), White Aluminium metallic matte(available in base and M competition package), and Blackstorm metallic/M Motorsport (only available in M competition package).

With a starting price of ₹33.50 lakh ex-showroom, it competes in the naked super sport motorcycle segment against the likes of Ducati Streetfighter V4, Kawasaki Z H2, and Aprilia Tuono V4.
