It’s been a great year for us automotive enthusiasts when it comes to motorsport-themed movies that have come out, with the Gran Turismo flick being the most recent one. Now, we’re on for another potentially great movie as the first trailer for the highly anticipated Ferrari film is now out.

While the trailer itself teases a nice little mix of fast cars ripping through scenic locations, the main plot will be based on the book ‘Enzo Ferrari: The Man, The Cars, The Races, The Machine.’ Here, the film has teased the journey through Ferrari’s near-bankruptcy, as well as the journey to the top spot of the podium for the prancing horse in the last-ever competitive running of the 1,000-mile race on public roads across Italy, the Mille Miglia.

Of course, a prestigious feat like this was achieved in an iconic car, the Ferrari 315 S – 3.8 litres of Italian fury spread across 12 cylinders, revving to 7,800rpm and pumping out 360PS and reaching 290kmph on the Autostrada – with just a four-speed transmission! This 60° V12 engine designed by Vittorio Jano was fed by six Weber 42 DCN carburettors, had twin-spark ignition and dry-sump lubrication to deal with the insane 880kg (dry weight) machine.

For such a highly anticipated movie, we’ve got an equally star-studded cast. Adam Driver will be playing as Enzo Ferrari, also known as the Il Commendatore, with Penélope Cruz as Laura Ferrari, Enzo Ferrari’s wife.

The Ferrari movie, directed by Michael Mann and will hit theatres this Christmas, in December 2023. So you could say it’s a Christmas miracle for us automotive enthusiasts as we could potentially get a closer look behind the scenes of the man that made the prancing horse the icon it is the world over.
