JSW MG Motor India joint venture unveils ambitious business roadmap

SAIC Motor and JSW Group have officially announced their strategic joint venture, JSW MG Motor India Pvt. Ltd. With SAIC Motor’s expertise and JSW Group’s manufacturing prowess, the joint venture aims to capitalise on the opportunities within the Indian automotive landscape. The venture’s roadmap focuses on extensive localization efforts and the development of an automotive ecosystem across the nation.

The collaboration is said to begin by leveraging SAIC Motor’s automotive experience and JSW Group’s manufacturing expertise, JSW MG Motor India aims to pioneer advanced technologies and mobility solutions while bolstering local supply chains. The venture plans to launch new products, including New Energy Vehicles (NEVs), every three to six months, starting this festive season, with two new products slated for release this calendar year.

Parth Jindal, Member of the Steering Committee of JSW MG Motor India, expressed confidence in the joint venture’s ability to produce world-leading products tailored for the Indian and global markets. He highlighted the venture’s commitment to delivering high-quality vehicles at affordable prices, leveraging cutting-edge technology and local manufacturing capabilities.

Rajeev Chaba, CEO Emeritus of MG Motor India, underscored the significance of partnering with JSW Group to further the growth trajectory of the MG brand in India. He emphasised the venture’s focus on building a sustainable EV ecosystem and expanding manufacturing capacities, particularly for NEVs, at the Halol facility in Gujarat.

JSW MG Motor India plans to establish an R&D centre to cater to diverse consumer preferences and develop connected, new-age mobility solutions. With a commitment to carbon neutrality and sustainability, the venture aims to lead the NEV category by 2030, utilising renewable energy sources and working towards carbon neutrality by 2029.

The venture’s business roadmap also emphasises creating employment opportunities and fostering talent development in the country. JSW MG Motor India aims to skill 1,00,000 students and upskill employees in EVs, Autonomous, and Connected car technologies, contributing to local communities and the automotive industry’s growth.
