Oppo Find X9 Pro Review

Oppo’s latest flagship smartphone, the Find X9 Pro, could just be the next flagship killer.

There was a time when the mere mention of Oppo conjured images of a budget brand, but today Oppo has come a long way, and its latest flagship, the Find X9 Pro, is the perfect example. On paper, it promises to deliver a ton of features, but the proof of the pudding is in the details. We decided to give it a go and took the Find X9 Pro for a test drive in TURBOCHARGED style. Here is what we observed.

The Find X9 Pro comes in a relatively simple packaging, but the smartphone itself reeks of quality and substance. The frosted glass back and the metal sides look regal, and I personally liked it. And it is compact enough that you don’t need both hands to handle it. Upon booting up the device, I was welcomed by a simple yet intuitive setup procedure. A few taps later, the Find X9 PRO was ready and idling. The latest Color OS is based on Android 16, and for me, the navigation was quite predictive as I am already familiar with the OS. However, the Colour OS tries to mimic a particular fruit, which one? You be the judge of that. But a different layout would have made things unique. As I explored deeper, I came across a ton of AI features, and they felt more like a novelty, though some do have a use case.

The 6.78-inch AMOLED XDR display is one of the best I have seen recently, and the clarity is superb. With a 120Hz refresh rate, the screen is so smooth that I couldn’t take my eyes off it. The touch sensitivity is good, and it comes with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2, which makes it quite durable. Plus, the X9 Pro is IP66, IP68 and IP69, lending it ample protection from the elements, which is perfect for us as we do shoot quite a lot in harsh environments. And talking of shooting, the Find X9 Pro is equipped with camera tech that should make the competition worry. Because Oppo partnered with camera giant Hasselblad to develop the system, and it is evident from the photos we clicked.

The 50MP main and ultra-wide cameras feature a large aperture, which means low-light photography and videos are good. The Lumo Imaging Engine provides additional computational power to enhance the images and video, but it does so quietly in the background. But the main highlight is the 200MP Hasselblad Telephoto lens that literally blew me away with its results. They were simply surreal. It captures the subject in such detail that, even at 6X zoom, everything is crystal clear and distortion-free. And if you want to zoom beyond 6X, you can; however, the computational enhancement softens the image a bit, but the result is still good for most users. In terms of video, it captures up to 120FPS at 4K, but the juicy bit is that it can do so in LOG, giving you more ammo for post-production warfare. The tri-sensor camera setup on the Find X9 Pro should make the competition nervous.

The exceptional display and surreal camera setup are powered by the Dimensity 9500, MediaTek’s top-tier chip, which is a powerhouse in terms of performance. It is smooth and lag-free, and it does not hang even with many apps running in the background. In fact, I ran a few stress tests back-to-back, and it powered through each one without a hitch. The only side effect was that the device got a bit warm, but the vapour chamber cooling kept it from being toasty without any noticeable drop in performance. I also stressed the processor with multiple video and photo editing tasks, and it worked like a charm. Even editing on Instagram Edits was easy as a breeze, which usually is not the case with most phones. In fact, for everyday usage, the Find X9 Pro is like a semi-automatic rifle at a knife fight because the MediaTek processor is TURBOCHARGED with no lag.

To support this kind of computing and performance, Oppo has slipped in a mega 7,500mAh silicon-carbon battery, designed by Oppo for the Find X9 series. Hence, it lasted almost two days with heavy usage, and it would easily last three days under normal usage, which is impressive. And if that wasn’t enough, the Find X9 Pro comes with an 80W SUPERVOCC charger and also supports 50W AIRVOCC wireless charging. In my testing, the Find X9 Pro went from 40 percent to 80 percent in under 30 minutes with the 80W SUPERVOCC charger. Oppo is so confident in the new battery that it claims 80 percent battery health retention even after five years of normal usage. That’s a tall promise, but we won’t know it for half a decade. Overall, Oppo has reignited our hunger for appropriately priced flagship smartphones with the Find X9 Pro, which delivers TURBOCHARGED performance thanks to its superb processor, excellent build quality and surreal Hasselblad camera setup. And how can I forget the cherry on top, the 7,500mAh battery, which will surely outlast the competition. And all this for just ₹1,09,999, which is less than what the competition’s Pro models with similar specifications cost. The Find X9 Pro makes a strong case for itself when it comes to value for money, and given that I had a blast while using it, especially the camera, I have to say that Oppo’s latest flagship is one worthy contender for your hard-earned buck.
