Citroën India has revealed the first images of its latest model, the Citroën BASALT. This new addition marks India’s first mainstream SUV Coupé, blending the design elements of a coupé with the practical features of an SUV.
Pierre Leclercq, Head of Citroën Design, describes the BASALT as a unique silhouette that complements the C3 and C3 Aircross in India. He states that it combines the robustness and versatility of an SUV with the roominess and efficiency of a coupé. The design of the BASALT incorporates elements from classic models like the CX and the more recent C4.
The Citroën Basalt features a coupé-like silhouette with smooth, flowing lines. The roofline extends to the trunk lid, enhancing accessibility and echoing classic coupé designs. Strong fenders and geometric wheel arches add to the vehicle’s robust character, while the sculpted clamshell bonnet and connected light signature give it a distinctive front look.
The rear design includes a horizontal wing effect, floating blades integrated into the tail lamp, and vertical aerodynamic edges, contributing to a sense of space and SUV character. Silver skid plates on the front and rear bumpers provide both style and functionality, offering protection for the vehicle.
The BASALT’s design details include X-shaped split DRLs and LED-Vision projector headlamps, which are combined with three-striped rear lights for a striking visual effect. Color clips near the rear windows and on the front bumper add a subtle yet distinctive touch, in line with Citroën’s design philosophy.
Further details on the features of the Citroën Basalt will be revealed soon. It is set to rival the Tata Curvv, positioning itself as a contender in the SUV Coupé market.
