The updated Taigun comes with a new fascia, gets an updated grille with horizontal slats, updated headlamps with an LED light bar connecting them, an illuminated Volkswagen logo and chrome inserts. At the rear, it gets updated tail-lamps connected by an LED lightbar and features an illuminated Volkswagen logo. It also gets a new design for the alloy wheels. For the GT Line trim, the chrome inserts on the front are blacked out along with a red GT badge, black side mirrors, blacked-out alloy wheels, and red brake callipers. Volkswagen has also added two new colours to the line-up: Avocado Pearl and Steel Grey.
In terms of features, the Volkswagen Taigun now features a panoramic sunroof, six-way electronically adjustable front seats with ventilation, a new 10.1-inch infotainment display with voice commands, and a new 10.24-inch digital driver’s display. Rear wiper and defogger are now standard across all variants, and Volkswagen has also added rear disc brakes for the 1.5-litre GT variant.
For safety, the Taigun has six airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC, front and rear parking sensors, traction control, electronic differential lock, hill-hold assist and ISOFIX child seat mount. Apart from that, the new Taigun also carries a five-star safety rating.
Mechanically, the new Taigun comes with two power trains, a 1.5-litre TSI and a 1.0-litre TSI. The 1.5-litre TSI produces 150PS and 250Nm, while the 1.0-litre TSI engine puts out 115PS and 178Nm. A major update on the 1.0-litre TSI engine is the introduction of an eight-speed torque converter automatic gearbox, which replaces the previous six-speed unit. However, the six-speed manual transmission is still on offer. The 1.5-litre TSI engine continues to be offered with a seven-speed (DSG) dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Volkswagen is offering a standard four-year or 1 lakh km warranty, four years of roadside assistance and three free services along with the purchase.
