Mahindra has launched the Thar Roxx Star Edition and we had the opportunity to see it up close. The design-focused variant is being offered as a more premium variant of the Thar Roxx range. The Star Edition brings visual updates to the existing Thar Roxx without any mechanical changes.

On the outside, you get a piano black finish grille and to match the aesthetics, the 19-inch alloy wheels are finished in piano black too. Mahindra has also introduced a new colour called ‘Citrine Yellow’, which is definitely a welcome addition to the already available red, black and white colour offerings.

Inside, you are greeted with an all-black leatherette upholstery complemented by suede accents, lending the interior a much more premium and sophisticated feel. Other features include ventilated front seats, sliding armrest, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with connected features, 10.25-inch driver instrument console, panoramic sunroof and a 9-speaker Harman Kardon music system. For safety, you get six-airbags, a 360-degree camera and TPMS.

Mechanically, the Thar Roxx Star Edition stays the same. You have the option of the 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine and the 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel engine. While the petrol engine is available with an automatic transmission only, on the diesel engine, you get to choose from a manual or automatic transmission.

The Thar Roxx Star edition is being offered at an introductory starting price of ₹16.85 lakh, which is also cheaper by up to ₹2 lakh from the AX7L variant, which has similar features. However, the Star Edition misses out on the ADAS suite, 6-way power-adjustable driver seat and the electronic parking brake. We will be driving it soon, so stay tuned to TURBOCHARGED.
