The SUV will be offered in the Smart, Pure, Adventure and Fearless variants

Recently, Tata Motors gave the Nexon’s ICE and electric guises a major facelift and they’ve now given the Harrier SUV a midlife refresh too. It’s the first proper facelift for the SUV since 2019, and there’s plenty to dig into when it comes to what’s new.

For starters, the 2023 Harrier has a new closed-off front grille with silver inserts, complemented by a connected LED DRL. The carmaker has gone for an aggressive approach with the rest of the face, with sportier bumpers and triangular housing that features new LED headlamps and fog lamps. Aside from a refreshed set of alloy wheels, and connected LED tail lamps, much of the SUV’s overall silhouette remains as is.

The bulk of the changes lie inside with a heavily revised layout with sleek AC vents and the touch-based controls for the new dual-zone climate controls. Of course the main attractions are the new 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment, 10.25-inch fully digital driver’s display and a new steering wheel with an illuminated logo. New kit includes a gesture-controlled powered tailgate, rear sunshades and a powered co-driver’s seat. Key features such as connected car tech, ventilated front seats, ADAS, connected car tech, a panoramic sunroof as well as keyless entry with push button start continue to be retained.

Powering the Harrier is the same 170PS 2.0-litre diesel engine with 6-speed manual and automatic transmission options. For the automatic variants, paddle shifters have been added for those who want more optimal shifts.

Once the prices for the 2023 Tata Harrier are out, expect it to retail at a premium over the pre-facelift model that starts at Rs 15.20 lakh ex-showroom. It will take on the likes of the MG Hector and the 5-seater variants of the Mahindra XUV700.
